Any girl would be so blessed to have a desk like this in her bedroom. A desk like this is a timeless piece that could be purchased for a young girl and be sophisticated enough to be taken with her as she moves out and on her own for college. This desk sells for $319 and comes in white, a natural cherry wood, green and the blue you see above. If you decided to order blue fabric, and want to match the desk up with the fabric, all you need to do is paint over the manufactures blue. If you decide to do a pink theme for example, and order pink toile wallpaper, and work with white and pink stripes, getting the natural wood color will allow you to distress the desk once it is painted pink. This desk is a terrific buy! It certainly is a piece that a child can grow with.
Below is a dazzling room with graphic wallpaper. It looks to be wallpaper, because you can see possibly the lines from paneling in some areas. It might also be a stenciled finish. The color is brilliant, and the white adds some light while at the same time giving it a playful look. Using stencils is very easy, and you could save on wallpaper stenciling your child's room. Invite your best friend over and make it a day project. As you can see this wall is beyond stunning!
Alessandra Branca shows us how easy it is to create a canopy for a kids room. How I would go about creating this look is to mount a ceiling rod bracket on the ceiling where I would like the pattern to drape. Then slide a drapery rod through the ceiling brackets. You can get as fancy or as plain with the ceiling rod. Something ornate such as the pine cone rod in gold would look nice with a blue and white bedroom. If you look at regular drapes which have the fabric folded over, and designed for a rod to go through; something similar should be sewn to keep the fabric from sliding off the rod on the ceiling. Cutting a piece of fabric, and sewing a rectangular strip where the fold is to take place allowing a rod to slide through would be ideal in this design. As you can see the bed linens in this picture would be very easy to create. It is simply a flat sheet with rounded corners finished off in a blue fabric. This room is very beautiful, and could easily double as a guest room and a kids room all in one.
In this room you can see they create a canopy look by utilizing the ceiling. Ceiling rods can appear more professional, and won't be pulled down as easily by children. A Dremel tool often comes with a small cutting attachment to cut metal. Drapery rods often also come with a plastic piece which slides in the end of the pipe, and can be removed and refitted after you cut the size you are after. As you can see toile wallpaper works wonderful with solid fabric as it does with stripes.
