Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie’s children have received an extraordinary amount of press coverage. The truth is that it seems like the gossip magazines just cannot get enough of their kids. Magazines such as People and Hello each devoted more than a dozen pages to their twins Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon. According to Women’s Wear Daily, People's magazine featuring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s new twins was one of the magazine’s all-time best sellers. Approximately 2.6 million purchased that issue. Normally, People only sells about 1.5 million copies. In fact, that issue was the 4th most-purchased in People magazine’s history. The only issues which sold more were the issues on the 9/11 tragedy, the death of John F. Kennedy Jr. and the death of Princess Diana. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been together since 2005. They got married after Brad Pitt got a divorce from his former wife, Jennifer Aniston. At the time there was a tremendous amount of outrage over the divorce. Many publications ran headlines accusing Angelina Jolie of being "the other woman". There were allegations that an affair between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt began when the two were filming the blockbuster hit "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". But the truth is that none of us really knows what was going on during that time period.
Angelina Jolie is a gigantic superstar in her own right. She was previously married to Johnny Lee Miller in 1996 and then to super megastar Billy Bob Thornton in 2000. When Angelina Jolie and Bradd Pitt started dating, the public went crazy and wanted the scoop on how they got together. Was there an affair? Americas sweetheart, Jennifer Aniston, won the public's favor at the time. But the public started viewing Pitt and Jolie more favorably after the couple adopted their first child, Maddox, which garnered a ton of press attention.
Currently, the couple has 6 kids. Three are adopted children: Maddox, Pax and Zahara. Maddox is Cambodian, Zahara is an Ethiopian, and Pax is Vietnamese. Their other three are biological children--Shiloh, Knox Leon and Vivienne.
In February of 2010 Jolie admitted that they have talked about expanding their family further. Jolie, who is a UN Goodwill Ambassador, laughed off news that she and Pitt are planning to adopt a child from the earthquake-hit country of Haiti. “I'm always open to children around the world. We're that kind of a family; Brad and I talk about that.” Although Angelina is keen on adopting more children, Brad says 6 is more than enough. “He has made it clear that six children are more than he can handle,” the Daily Telegraph recently quoted a source as saying.
"Having three children and watching them influence each other is so beautiful to me," Jolie recently told People magazine. "I'm just so blessed that's my family. As a mom, I just want more kids, I'm having a great time."
The truth is that parenting is one of the toughest jobs there is. Parenting 6 children, and juggling two superstar careers, and living in the spotlight is a whole lot more than most people realize. Being famous has some serious drawbacks, and the public often base their opinions off of questionable photos and Internet rumors. For example, the photo below created a huge uproar and the couple was highly criticized because one of the children didn't have a protective helmet on....
The couple has held the public's attention for years, but something you may not know is their huge willingness to give back. They have made huge donations to many charities. For example, when Shiloh Jolie-Pitt was born, the couple was given $4.1 million for exclusive rights to the first photos, which they turned around and donated to African children's charities. When the couple was expecting twins, many magazines were going crazy trying to get exclusive rights to the pictures. The couple was awarded $14 million for the pictures, and they used those funds to launch an international children's charity. Right on, we say!
