Painted French Provincial Furniture

Austin Modern featured a fabulous vintage French Provencial Bassett lingerie dresser painted in a high gloss white enamel and vintage blue satin aqua blue enamel.  It shows you what you can do with an ordinary chest and some paint.  Austin Modern kept the original hardware and the white laminate top in it's original shape. The colors are typical of the bright modern colors found in Dorothy Draper's decorating schemes. What makes Austin Modern's chest so lovely is the extra trim details around the door. Often times most painters won't take the extra time to finish hand painting the details around the chests because it is time consuming, but as you can see it makes the world of difference.  French Provincial furniture is one of the few styles that feature decorative architectural detail around the drawers, tops, and sides of their furniture making it the perfect furniture if you are wanting a painted finish to look more ornate and interesting. Brightly colored furniture like Austin Modern's chest are perfect with white trim. Distressed antique finishes work well with gold touches, and grey furniture looks wonderful with off-white, or a shade lighter than the chest itself. Austin Modern's Bassett chest sells for $600.

Look at the color schemes of the Hollywood Regency styles.  Inter mix them in your kids room decor.  As you can see the Aqua, Orange and Pink work Fabulously together.  Who would have thought?
