Re-Purposing Vintage Wood Yard Sticks

Viva Terra Furniture With Recycled Yard Sticks

Country Living Magazine featured a editorial on musician Neko Case whose Vermont farm features a unique interior that could be described anywhere between country and punk rock.  The Vermont farm, a 100-acre property with a 225-year-old farm house in Vermont’s Green Mountains is filled with captivating salvage pieces that have been rescued and repurposed.

She tells Country Living that "When I'm desperately lonely and want to go home, I buy fabric online, I don't know how much sadder it gets. Some people turn to porn; I buy fabric on the Internet." If the musician finds herself stuck in a foreign airport, she uses the opportunity to study obscure design magazines.

One of the pieces which was most interesting in her house is a chair and table re-purposed with yard sticks.  Consider decorating a chair with yardsticks, like Neko did with her kitchen table set.  Ideally, you need a table or chair which has straight lines, so you can hammer these yardsticks in place with a simple hammer and fine nails.  Consider decorating a chest of drawers with yardsticks, or the top of a table. This idea will surely add a bit of a surprise into any room.
